Painted enamel 【画珐琅】 tea cup and saucer of Vietnamese nobility.

The special feature here is the fish-shaped handles on both sides of the cup, which are rare and finely crafted ornaments. Bouquets of “phù dung hoa” 【芙蓉花】confederate roses and Western-influence golden trims are as well exploited thoroughly the set.

Confederate rose is an extremely popular motif for important ceremonies, as each charater in its name 芙蓉花 (fú róng hua) and 福(fú - good fortune)/ 榮 (róng - honour)/ 華 (hua - prosperity) are homophones respectively.
